Ever wonder what Art Sundays is all about? Here’s a little peek into what happens in a typical workshop.

Last Sunday’s free family art workshop, on February 19th, was a big hit with over 50 participants! Teaching artist, Howard Marshall introduced the activity with a bit of history about the civil rights movement and about Martin Luther King Jr. He then asked everyone to think of their dreams of freedom and write them down. He showed some examples of other inspirational posters, such as posters for Nelson Mandela. The dreams of freedom were then printed on posters incorporating graphic designs. Many people created multiple posters.

“Freedom Posters made by my kids at Barnsdall Art Park this past Sunday. The instructor was wonderful, informative and engaging. What a fun project.” -Erika Tucker

Come on by next Sunday 10am-12pm for another free family art workshop. All ages welcome and all materials are provided! Please visit Art Sundays for an updated schedule of what’s happening.

Barnsdall Arts/FOJAC and the Barnsdall Art Park Foundation offer free art workshops every Sunday, bringing back the tradition of the park’s “Sundays Open Sundays” free art classes from years past and has been running strong for 5 years and counting!
